FAIRBANKS — A 50-year-old Fairbanks woman has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of a man missing since last month.
Alaska State Troopers say Monica Forbes is charged in the death of 51-year-old Michael Pope.
Troopers Dec. 4 took a missing persons report for Pope from his employer.
Investigators determined he had been last seen Nov. 25.
The body of a man was found Monday on Pope’s property and troopers say it likely is Pope. The body has been sent to the state medical examiner for positive identification and an autopsy.
Troopers say Forbes was a long-time acquaintance of Pope.
She’s also charged with evidence tampering.
Forbes was scheduled for arraignment Wednesday and was jailed at Fairbanks Correctional Center. Online court records did not list an attorney representing her.
