HOLLIS — A 35-year-old southeast Alaska man suspected of driving a van through a security gate at a ferry terminal was arrested Tuesday.
Alaska State Troopers say Kenneth Burchfield of Hollis about 1 a.m. broke into a secured yard at the Inter-Island Ferry Authority in Hollis and stole an IFA passenger van.
Troopers say he drove through a locked security gate, causing $6,000 to $8,000 in damage.
He was arrested at his home.
Troopers say he was intoxicated.
He is charged with vehicle theft, felony driving under the influence, felony criminal mischief, criminal trespass, felony refusal to submit to a chemical test and driving with a revoked license.
Online court records don’t list an attorney for Burchfield.
Hollis is a community of 94 on the east side of Prince of Wales Island.
