Man, woman end up in hospital with knife wounds after argument

Two Juneau residents ended up in the hospital Wednesday night, both claiming that the other person stabbed them.

At 5:40 p.m. Wednesday, multiple calls came in to the Juneau Police Department reporting a stabbing at a residence in the 8400 block of Thunder Mountain Road. Officers arrived to find two Juneau residents, a 56-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman, had been stabbed.

According to the police report, the man and woman were alone in their residence and got into an argument. The woman reported that the man stabbed her, and the man reported that the woman stabbed him. Police found that the woman had a knife wound to her front torso and the man had a knife would to his face and his upper back.

Both of them were taken to Bartlett Regional Hospital, and Deputy Chief David Campbell said the injuries were minor. Hospital spokesperson Katie Bausler said the man was treated and released, while the woman was in stable condition in the critical care unit as of 1 p.m. Thursday.

Police seized a knife from the residence as evidence, and reported that alcohol appears to have been a factor in the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
