Indecent exposure
• At 9:47 a.m. Wednesday, the Juneau Police Department received a call that there was a man on the Nugget Falls trail near the Mendenhall Glacier who was wearing only a hat, JPD Public Safety Manager Erann Kalwara said. Officers responded to the scene, Kalwara said, but did not find the man. Kalwara did not have a description of what kind of hat the man was wearing.
Wildlife violations
• On Aug. 18, Juneau-based Alaska Wildlife Troopers cited Wrangell resident John Church, 66, for commercially trolling in closed waters. Troopers discovered that Church, the captain and permit holder onboard the F/V Corvus, was commercially hand trolling within 500 yards of Humpy Creek, a salmon stream near Icy Strait, when prohibited. Troopers issued him a strict liability citation and gave him a mandatory court date in Juneau District Court.
• On Aug. 18, Juneau-based Alaska Wildlife Troopers cited Hoonah resident John Vlaun, 50, for commercially trolling in closed waters. Troopers discovered that Vlaun, the captain and permit holder onboard the F/V West, was commercially power trolling within 500 yards of Humpy Creek, a salmon stream near Icy Strait, when prohibited. Troopers issued him a strict liability citation and gave him a mandatory court date in Juneau District Court.
• On Aug. 18, Juneau-based Alaska Wildlife Troopers cited Hoonah resident Devin Moritz, 30, for retaining undersized commercial troll king salmon. Troopers found that Moritz was in possession of a king salmon that measured under the legal size limit of 28 inches. The salmon was seized as evidence and Troopers issued him a strict liability citation and gave him a mandatory court date in Juneau District Court.
