Police & Fire for Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017

Assault

• At 3:28 p.m. Friday, the Juneau Police Department responded to a report of a disturbance in the 8100 block of Glacier Highway. Michael Swanson, 30, was arrested for assault after reportedly placing a 20-year-old woman in fear of imminent physical injury. At 3:45 p.m. Friday, JPD responded to a report of an assault in the 8700 block of Glacier Highway. Swanson was arrested for assault against a 19-year-old man and assault against a police officer.

• At 7:07 a.m. Saturday, Browne Willard, 43, was arrested for assault and taken to Lemon Creek Correctional Center.

Burglary

• At 3:41 p.m. Friday, JPD investigated a reported burglary of a storage facility in the 5400 block of Commercial Boulevard.

• At 2:09 p.m. Saturday, JPD reported to a burglary report in the 8200 block of Poplar Avenue. Investigation continues.

Death

• At 2:13 p.m. Saturday, JPD responded to a report of an unattended death on Egan Drive. Investigation continues.

Domestic dispute

• At 10:44 p.m. Friday, JPD responded to a report of a damaged garage door in the 1900 block of Lemon Creek Road, with a damage estimate of $350. Alcohol was involved.

• At 8:05 p.m. Saturday, a woman in the Juneau area reported that a man assaulted her and caused an estimated $100 in damage to a door; he also violated a restraining order.

• At 9:09 p.m. Saturday, JPD responded to a report of a domestic assault in the Juneau area. A man was arrested for domestic violence assault and taken to LCCC.

• At 10:20 p.m. Saturday, a 53-year-old woman in the Juneau area was arrested for domestic violence and taken to jail.

Fire and medical

• On Friday, Capital City Fire/Rescue responded to 11 EMS calls and two medical transports around town throughout the day. At 12:35 p.m., firefighters were dispatched for an active structure fire involving an enclosed building on Long Run Drive; the building owner had extinguished the fire. At 7:37 p.m., firefighters were dispatched for an active carbon monoxide alarm on Emily Way; units found high levels of CO2 but no source. The residents were advised to air out the house and stay somewhere else for the night. At 9:18 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to a fire alarm on Third Street that was triggered by burnt food.

• On Saturday, CCFR responded to eight EMS calls. At 10:58 p.m., while clearing the scene of a call on Front and South Franklin streets, firefighters notice a cigarette receptacle smoking heavily and extinguished the fire with a water bottle.

• On Sunday, Capital City Fire/Rescue responded to three EMS calls. At 5:12 p.m., firefighters were dispatched for the smell of diesel on Glacier Highway; no smell was detected.

Sex crime

• At 7:18 p.m. Friday, JPD responded to a report of harm to a child in the Juneau area. Investigation continues.

Shoplifting

• At 1:09 p.m. Saturday, JPD responded to a shoplifting report in the 8100 block of Glacier Highway. Investigation continues.

Theft

• At 12:03 p.m. Saturday, JPD responded to a report of a theft of a cellphone on Egan Drive. Investigation continues.

At 1:05 p.m. Saturday, JPD responded to a report from a 31-year-old man in the 3300 block of Nowell Avenue, regarding the theft of a propane tank worth an estimated $50.

• At 8:50 p.m. Saturday, JPD responded to a report of a stolen 2010 silver Chevrolet truck containing three loaded firearms and a criminal trespass of a residence in the 9600 block of Eagle Street. Investigation continues.

Traffic stop

• At 7:48 p.m. Friday, a driver was pulled over in the 1300 block of Egan Drive for unsafe equipment and was found to not have a valid license. The driver was cited and the vehicle was impounded.

Trespassing

• At 4:03 p.m. Saturday, JPD responded to a report of a criminal trespass in the 600 block of Willoughby Avenue. Investigation continues.

• At 7:30 p.m. Saturday, JPD responded to a report that a man trespassed onto private property in the 8100 block of Glacier Highway.

• At 11:29 a.m. Sunday, JPD responded to a report of a broken lock on a gate and possible rifling of a vehicle in the 400 block of D Street.

Vehicle crash

• At 7:47 p.m. Friday, JPD responded to a collision in the 6000 block of Glacier Spur Road. A vehicle hit an occupied vehicle, which was pushed forward into another unoccupied vehicle, causing approximately $10,000 in damage. The driver of the first vehicle was cited for speed.

Welfare check

• At 10:12 p.m. Saturday, JPD responded to a welfare check request in the 1000 block of 10th Street, and took a 19-year-old woman to Bartlett Regional Hospital for evaluation.
