The Juneau Police Department is seeking information regarding four cases that occurred in August ranging from a potential arson to the theft of many valuables from a home.

The crimes of the month are selected based on severity and impact on the community, said Lt. Krag Campbell in the release. In the case of these crimes, the initial investigation has concluded and more information is required to identify a suspect.

Those with information can contact the JPD at (907)586-0600 or Juneau Crime Line at (907)523-7700. Those submitting information may be eligible for rewards of up to $2,000.

Vandalism

On Aug. 8, JPD received a report on the 9000 block of Cinema Drive that a business had been vandalized. Someone had spray painted a number of windows, doors and lights with red spray paint. An excavator on the property was also vandalized, with the damage to the air filter, fuse box, and other components. Total cost of the vandalism was estimated at $4,500.

Home burglary

On Aug. 16, JPD received a report of a burglary of a residence in the 2200 block of Fritz Cove Road. The homeowner report that the burglary had occurred in the previous month. Among the items reported stolen were silver bars, gold coins, jewelry, musical instruments and $15,000 in cash.

Structure fire

An Aug. 19 structure fire that Capital City Fire/Rescue extinguished in the 3600 block of Mendenhall Loop Road is being investigated as a possible arson by JPD, Campbell said. At the time of the fire, CCFR fire marshal Dan Jager reported that eyewitness claimed to have seen people leaving the building just before the fire erupted. While no one lived there, the fire caused significant damage to the structure.

Stolen trailer

On Aug. 23, JPD received a report of a trailer being stolen from a property in the 6800 block of Glacier Highway. The trailer is black, with a 10-foot bed and a drop loading ramp, primarily used for transporting motorcycles, Campbell said. The trailer was valued at $713.
