The victim of a stabbing earlier this week was discharged from the hospital in stable condition, a Bartlett Regional Hospital spokesperson said.
At 5:41 p.m. Tuesday, according to Juneau Police Department spokesperson Erann Kalwara, JPD received a call that two people were fighting near the Glory Hole homeless shelter and a man had stabbed a woman.
Police and Capital City Fire/Rescue responders arrived on the scene and transported the 35-year-old woman to BRH. Soon afterward, JPD officers tracked down and arrested Robert James Paul, 38, for second-degree assault. JPD announced the arrest Thursday in a release.
BRH spokesperson Katie Bausler said the woman was treated and discharged in stable condition.
Glory Hole Deputy Director Kyle Hargrave said Thursday that Glory Hole patrons were the ones who called JPD. The stabbing, he said, took place on the opposite side of South Franklin Street from the shelter.
Paul and the woman, according to JPD, know each other. The two have been associated in the past, according to previous police reports. One report in August 2015 stated the two of them and one other man were arrested for disorderly conduct (fighting). Another report from February 2017 stated the two were cited for concealment of merchandise.
