A Juneau grand jury indicted two Haines men on multiple counts of sexual abuse of a minor Wednesday.
The grand jury indicted William D. Whittington, 25, on four counts of sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree, a class B felony. The grand jury indicted Stephen Robert William Bower, 31, on two counts of the same offense. Sexual assault in the second degree can carry up to 99 years in prison, depending on prior felony convictions.
Both men’s charges stem from May 11, when each allegedly had sex with a then-15-year-old girl multiple times. It appears that both men had sex with the same victim, according to the indictments. The prosecutor was unable to confirm as much.
