Woman dies of injuries in weekend shooting; juvenile charged

FAIRBANKS — A Fairbanks woman shot at a weekend party has died of her injuries and a 17-year-old suspect has been charged as an adult in the case.

Alaska State Troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters said investigators learned Wednesday that 19-year-old Janet Barragan had died of injuries suffered when she was shot just after 3 a.m. Sunday at a home west of Fairbanks.

Seventeen-year-old Lewis Harvin of Fort Wainwright is charged with felony assault in the case.

Two suspects after the shooting were seen leaving in a car. The car was found Monday by police in Anchorage.

Harvin and 20-year-old Levi Skulstad of Fairbanks were spotted leaving the home in a different vehicle and were arrested.

Skulstad is charged with felony hindering prosecution.

Troopers are asking people who attended the party to contact them.
