The blitzkrieg on American democracy

America has used Blitzkrieg tactics as one of its primary strategies in WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan. It is now on display in the continuing Syrian slaughter by Bashar al-Assad, Russia and Turkey.

The “Eugenics” movement, which was grounded in “better” genes and the exclusion of defects through “selection,” and resulted in forced sterilization against the disabled and those judged mentally inferior in the 1900s, was started in the U.K. and America. In fact, the Nazi’s Nuremberg Racial Laws of 1935 looked to several U.S. states who had Eugenics embedded in state laws.

The GOP and Trump are now on a “Jihad” (actually translated in Arabic as struggle or effort) to greatly weaken the Americans for Disabilities Act requirements, and they are further proceeding to deny health care as well as a safety net for the poor and uninsured.

And now Trump, claiming it will counter the mental health issue of gun violence, wants to bring back the old classic mental institutions to act as warehouses for what could easily be used to house, and remove, other “undesirables.”

Corporations in America have been declared the same as people and have human rights, according to the U.S. Supreme Court, but I doubt they will be committed to mental institutions as actual humans will; in a program that could go well beyond the public health “stated” goals.

Conservatives and the faithful have turned a blind eye to Trump’s actions that directly violate holy scripture; and would easily come under the “Seven Deadly Sins” and defy the Ten Commandments. But then when if it’s “your guy” who gets to invade the private lives of others, it seems OK.

Trump and GOP sycophant governors of many red states are again actively moving to sabotage health care further, which can result in 18 percent of all Americans being uninsured.

As I remember scripture, God didn’t say that human concerns only apply to saving babies, who they will not help support once born. Supporting those who act against the poor, elderly and disabled, and who will die without health care or can’t afford it, is not consistent with “pro-life.”

On that the conservatives are manifestly silent. Pushing well debunked no revenue and cost arguments, while at the same time supporting giving trillions in tax cuts to the 1 percent, while adding $7.1 trillion in debt over the next decade as well as cutting health care and non-military aid.

The GOP has reinforced the Henry Kissinger/Ronald Reagan “Benign Neglect” solution to problems of inequality and human needs.

In contrast, in Juneau we have many hard working businessmen such as Bill Corbus who have donated major portions of their wealth back to the community for the future. That is our community’s collective good fortune.

Trump demands “unity,” but dictates that others be investigated as a show of loyalty. Actual collusion is hard to prove, yet Trump’s NSA Director has not been given orders to counter verified Russian threats for 2018 to defend democracy.

Trump doesn’t want to do this too much because he knows Putin will retaliate against him. Russian hacking helped Trump and the GOP, collusion or not, in 2016; why stop it in 2018?

Transparency from all sides is critical to democracy. But to Trump it is simply treasonous if you don’t take his side as the Nunes v. Schiff memo escapade shows. You are a traitor if you won’t go after anyone who opposes Trump and his new Republican party.

Then there is the Trump / GOP go-to, and leaked to, Trump self-proclaimed Fourth branch of government the FOX News network; and especially Sean Hannity.

Trump also now demands a costly military parade in November. Will that entail saying “Sieg …” as they salute (the actual meaning “Hail …”) to the Commander in Chief as they pass the reviewing stand?

As to China’s Xi Jingping recently extending his tenure “for life” in a communist dictatorship, Trump said: “He’s now president for life. President for life. No, he’s great. And look, he was able to do that.”

Trump added, “I think it’s great. Maybe we’ll have to give that a shot some day.”

Perhaps the military might consider practicing “goose-stepping” for the November parade.
