Sara Hannan and I first met as worthy opponents on a basketball court. Sara is taller than I am and sometimes, to get a rebound, I tried to move taller women out of my way. A lot of taller women objected. Sara just smiled at my efforts and got the rebound anyway.

Part of a person’s character is truly exposed when they play competitive sports, in my opinion. People often use sports as a way to vent their frustrations and then they become different people when the game ends. Sara never changed, on the court or off.

I believe one can trust a person, who remains committed to the game, plays fair and yet can handle adversity while remaining calm and focused.

Vote for Sara Hannan, please. You won’t be disappointed.

M. Sue McGowan,

Juneau
