Over 130 athletes shook off the drowsiness of winter with the 12th annual Heart of Hospice Fun Run on Saturday. The event was held at Twin Lakes Trail with a 5-kilometer run or a 1-mile walk to benefit Juneau’s Hospice &Home Care program, a division of Catholic Community Service.
The fastest man in the 5K was Phillips David with a time of 20 minutes, 6 seconds; the fastest woman in the 5K was Adelaide Johnson with a time of 24 minutes, 33 seconds.
David and Johnson both received the Dr. Henry Akiyama Award, awarded each year to the 5K winners in honor of the memory of Dr. Akiyama for his years of medical service to the Juneau community.
