Falcons baseball team falls to Kayhi

The Thunder Mountain High School baseball team lost to Ketchikan 7-5 on Friday during their first game of the season.

TMHS Senior Finn Collins smacked a homer to left field in the first inning with one man on base to give the Falcons the early 2-0 lead.

TMHS‚ advantage didn’t last long as, Kayhi scored five in the bottom of the first for a 5-2 lead.

The Falcons scored their third run in the second inning on an errant pitch from Kayhi senior Nathan Bonck.

Ketchikan added two runs to their lead in the third inning. TMHS battled back with two runs of their own in the seventh and final inning, but it wasn‚t enough to take down the reigning Southeast Conference champions.

TMHS senior Finn Collins led the way with three hits, three RBIs and a home run on four at bats. Senior Zeb Storie added two hits.

Kayhi’s Bonck was credited with the win. Kayhi had only four hits to the Falcons‚ 10, but was able to pull down the win off the strength of Bonck‚s pitching.

TMHS opens their home schedule at 8 p.m. Friday, April 29, against Sitka.
