Freshmen Sadie Tuckwood and Anna Iverson made a big splash at the first Southeast cross country meet of the season, last weekend’s Ketchikan Invitational. The pair of Juneau-Douglas High School runners placed first and third for the girls at the meet, with Thunder Mountain veteran Erin Wallace splitting the pair for a second place finish.
On the boy’s side, sophomore Arne Ellefson-Carnes finished second, besting a personal record at 16 minutes, 42.28 seconds time, 20 seconds faster than his time on the same course last season. Ellefson-Carnes broke up a pair of runners from Sitka, members of last year’s state champion team.
At fifth place, TMHS junior Jonah Penrose ran the fastest time for the Falcons boys at 17:44.47.
