Juneau-Douglas High School: Yadaa.at Kalé softball was off to a great start before the COVID-19 closures. We were looking forward to having a successful season with our four seniors leading our team, especially guiding our nine freshmen into our program. Coaches and players have been staying connected through regular Zoom meetings, but it isn’t the same. We are all disappointed that we missed a season that we felt would have been strong for us. We are looking forward to when we will be together again and have the opportunity to play ball.

Amanda VanSlyke: This would have been Amanda’s fourth year playing varsity for JDHS. We were looking forward to her pitching one last season as a leader for our young pitchers. We will miss her dedication and quirky sense of humor next year. The coaches and entire team wish Amanda the best of luck at Northern Arizona University in the fall where she plans to study psychology.
Abby Dean: This year would have been Abby’s fourth year playing softball for JDHS. As a freshman, she joined the team having never played softball before. Over the four years she improved her game tremendously. Abby was always a positive and dependable player who coaches and players could rely on. We will miss Abby’s smile and amazing attitude and wish her happiness and success as she attends Seattle Pacific University in the fall to study biology and Spanish studies.
Asianna Mazon: Asianna played four years of varsity softball for the Crimson Bears. As a junior ,she focused on soccer and we were looking forward to having her back on the softball field full time this year. We are going to miss her ability to play any position and the love she has for the game. We will miss everything about Asianna and wish her all the best as she attends college in the fall at either Central Washington or Western Oregon, where she would like to continue her softball career.
Ariana Connally: This season would have been the fourth season that Ariana played varsity for the Crimson Bears. We were looking forward to having a healthy Ariana back on the field to lead our young team by example. Ariana has had multiple injuries during her high school career, but she always worked hard to be a part of the team and on the field. We will miss Ariana’s love for the game and effort she gave every time she stepped on the field. We wish Ariana the best of luck and happiness in her future.
