The Juneau Skating Club held its 11th annual Basic Skills competition on Sunday. Thirty-five skaters participated in a variety of element events and figure skating routines set to music. It was an opportunity for the skaters to demonstrate what they have learned and how far they have come this year.
The synchronized skating team, Team Forget-Me-Not, along with soloist Meredith Fritsch, will be heading to Anchorage at the end of February to participate in the Fur Rondy skating show.
The Juneau ​Skating Club is a non​-profit organization whose mission is to teach the community of Juneau how to skate. The final session of lessons this year starts ​March 3. Visit www.juneauskatingclub.org for more information on lessons and the April 9 Spring Skating Show.
