Every Tuesday through October, Basketball Officials Meeting (Oct. 27 and Nov. 3) from 6-8 p.m., room C-105 at Thunder Mountain High School. Discussion of rules & mechanics as preparation for the National Federation of High Schools (NFHS) certification exam. All interested in officiating are encouraged to attend. For more information call Joel Osburn 209-7897.

Home, The HoopTime Basketball Program is taking registration for players in 4th-8th grades. The 2016 HoopTime season starts January 2. Registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration deadline is Dec. 13. Late registration will be accepted only if room is available with a $25 late fee. A free HoopTime open gym will be held at TMHS gym Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. to noon so families can meet coaches, get information and play basketball.

Home, 10 a.m., Juneau’s 1st Annual PolioPlus 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run (not Empire Cup Series race) at Riverbend Elementary School covered playground. Tickets $20 adults, $10 students. Tickets and donations got to Rotary Foundations PolioPlus fund and will be matched 2-to-1 by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Sunday, October 25

RUNNING

Home, 2:30 p.m., 4th Annual Zombie Run 5K or 1-mile at Sandy Beach. Empire Cup Series race. Preregister by Oct. 23 $15 adults, $10 kids. Race day registration $25 adult, $15 kids. Register at Pavitts Health and Fitness, Nugget Alaskan Outfitters, Fogggy Mountain Shop or Harborview Elementary School. Race is fundraiser for the Harborview Elementary Triathlon Club.
