The girls scored three in the first, six in the second and seven in the third in the overwhelming win. Thunder Mountain swung for 20 hits to Sitka’s three, including four hits for junior Haleigh Dicarlo and four for Maximina Saceda-Hurt, who was perfect at the plate going 4-4.

Sitka’s Meaghan Way batted in the Wolves lone RBI, a groundout that sent Sitka’s Iwamoto home in the third inning.

JDHS over Kayhi with Bates’ two dingers

Juneau-Douglas High School senior Quincy Bates had a brilliant night Thursday on both sides of the ball, pitching for a win against Ketchikan High School while homering twice.

JDHS softball took Ketchikan High School down on Thursday 4-1.

Bates homered to left field to open scoring in the first, a two-RBI shot that sent junior Sami Good home. JDHS’ lead remained at 2-0 until the third when Bates hit her second homer, pulling her shot again to left field that put JDHS up 3-0.

Kayhi answered in the fourth inning when the Kings’ Lexi Biggerstaff reached home on an error.

Bates then doubled in the fourth, sending senior Amanda Bicknell home and accounting for all four of JDHS’ RBIs.

Sophomore Leah Spargo relieved Bates at pitcher in the fifth, shutting Ketchikan out the rest of the game.

JDHS matched Homer’s one run in the second, then went for four in the third. In the fourth JDHS stretched their five-run lead to 12, scoring off two walks, a single by senior Amanda Bicknell, a single by Good, and a popup single by freshman Sophia Schauwecker.
