Post 25 chases state title

Juneau’s Post 25 dropped to the losers’ bracket Wednesday in the American Legion Baseball state tournament in Anchorage, losing to Wasilla 3-5. Juneau secured an early 3-0 lead, scoring one run in each of the first three innings but Wasilla Post 35 tied the game with a three-run seventh and rallied for the decisive lead with two runs in the ninth.

Results for Post 25’s Thursday match against in the losers’ bracket weren’t available at press time. Juneau can still play their way into the 3 p.m. Saturday state title game in the double-elimination tournament; If they make that far they will have win twice to claim the title. The second championship game, if necessary, will take place at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

Juneau came into the tournament as the top seed. Look to the Empire online and @Empiresports on Twitter for continued coverage of Post 25.
