Weekend Preview: Post 25 hosts West

Juneau’s Post 25 American Legion Baseball team (11-1; 45 points) enters the home stretch of their 18-game season this Saturday with their last home games, a doubleheader against West Post 1 (3-11; 23 points). Games are at noon and 3 p.m. at Adair-Kennedy Field.

Juneau is riding a 10-game win streak having taken their last two from Ketchikan last weekend.

Post 25 briefly pushed to the top of the National Division leaderboard with their wins in Ketchikan, but was overtaken Wednesday by Chugiak Post 33 (11-4; 48 points) when they beat Eagle River 12-0. (Legion baseball operates on a points system with wins earning 4 points, ties 2 and losses 1.)

Juneau has three games in hand over Chugiak and has already secured a berth in the state tournament. American Legion qualifies the top three teams from each division plus two wildcards with the most points to the state tournament. Post 25 is far enough ahead in the National Division standings to guarantee their trip to the state tournament July 26-30.

After the home doubleheader against West, Post 25 travels to Anchorage for their last four league games, two against Kodiak (1-12; 15 points), and one each against Bartlett (2-14; 20 points) and Eagle River (6-8; 32 points).
